Banks

HSBC

25 Notting Hill Gate, London W11 3JJ, UK – 0345 740 4404

The branch manager is a top man! Always active and polite, ready to help everyone!

I had no problems with the stuff, they all were very nice and helping. The only inconvenience is the time that it took to open my account, which could be because I tried to open it online (probably a mistake).

Lloyds Bank

179 Earl's Court Road, Earls Court, London SW5 9RE, UK – 0345 300 0000

Great experience today at the Earls Court branch thanks to a lady called Sonia. Quick service and great advice!

This bank has great staff and great banking choices.

Lloyds Bank

417 North End Rd, Fulham, London SW6 1NS, UK – 0345 300 0000

Really quiet branch, I always go here on the weekends rather than brave the lines in the central London branches!

Very helpful and efficient every time I visit.

Building Societies

The Chelsea Building Co

168 Earls Ct Rd, Earls Court, London SW5 9QQ, UK – 020 7259 2247

Have used this company several times and can highly recommend. David and his team were a delight to have around! Mess was kept to a minimum, turned up on time and didn’t land me with extra hidden costs. They even didn’t seem to mind too much when I changed my mind numerous times on things and were very accommodating. Would definitely use them again.

I used Chelsea Building because they were competitive and professional pitching for the business and I was not disapointed. They completed painting the outside of the house and remedial building work on time and to a very high specification.Their workfroce were a pleasure to have on site and they always left the site clean.I would definitely ask them to pitch again for any further building and/or decorating work that I have going forward

Nationwide

146 Uxbridge Rd, Shepherd's Bush, London W12 8AT, UK – 0800 554 0296

I've moved from this branch. Although conveniently located on the north side of Shepherds Bush Green it has an annoying double entry door that doesn't always work very efficiently and it is easy to collide with people even though you're not supposed to be able to. Watch out if you're struggling with a wet umbrella. Why do these places hardly ever have a bucket to deposit them in. Can get super busy in here with a queue that never seems to move. You can also wait a long time to speak to an advisor.

Great customer service. Very friendly staff. Barely any queuing

Castelnau Dentists

Fantastic in every respect. I have a terrible phobia of everything dentist-related, however Alex and rest of the team are super-friendly, professional and attentive - and put me at ease completely. They have also worked absolute wonders on my teeth. I cannot recommend this business highly enough.

Love this dentist, always so friendly and helpful. Christie the hygienist is the best that I have ever been too. Really gave good advice and was extremely professional, kind and cheerful. Definitely recommend.

Progressive Dentistry

34 Fulham High St, Fulham, London SW6 3LQ, UK – 020 7731 1162

Absolutely fantastic team! Dr Patel is the best dentist I have ever been to. Dare I say, going to the dentist is an actual pleasant experience! Paula is so lovely and accommodating with appointments. Nothing is ever too much bother. Thank you so much for your continual top class service!

First-rate experience, Nissit is highly professional and delivers some amazing results - very pleased. Paula who helps manage the practice is a pleasure to deal with. No hesitation in recommending.

Acton Vale Dentists

175 The Vale, Acton, London W3 7RD, UK – 020 8749 3267

This dentist is truly reassuring and warm whilst also being clear, professional and thorough. Excellent communication throughout. If you've been putting off going to the dentist for a while (as I did) then I really recommend this practice.

Great service here! Id never been to a dentist in England before since I am Australian and they were so considerate in explaining their system to me! I didn't have to wait long for an appointment (that same week) and the dentist himself was so lovely! He explained everything to me and made me feel comfortable about my root canal, even ringing to check on me to see if my questions had been answered properly. So wonderful!

Had tonsolitis for about 4 days and needed antibiotics. Called on sunday morning and they were able to see me an hour later. Quick and efficient service. The doctor present was very helpful in describing symptoms and the best treatments. Will definitely go here again when I'm sick!

NHS Direct is now NHS 24. Just dial 111 to speak to a professional or click the link below for there self help website. Lots of really useful info but keep clear of heart surgery! If in doubt ask your GP or call 111. Good luck.

Charing Cross Hospital

Fulham Palace Rd, London W6 8RF, UK – 020 3311 1234

Been admitted here thrice so far, twice planned and once through A&E. Excellent ENT team, very caring and empathetic nurses and wide variety of meals, not to mention a decent array of eateries both inside and within close proximity to the hospital. I also applaud the fact that things like meals and ward rounds run on schedule!

I've just had a procedure carried out to treat my trigemenial neuralgia and felt very well looked after.. I didn't feel that great once home over 56miles away and advised to go to my local A&E from one of your nurses . Overall the staff are great and treated me well. Amir and Mr Mendoza looked after me and I highly recommend them. Kate on .cx 11s is absolutely lovely and showed a sense of humour second to none..lovely catering man too. Polite and sweet natured..thank you

Bupa Cromwell Hospital

164-178 Cromwell Rd, Kensington, London SW5 0TU, UK – 020 7460 5700

Please AVOID coming here with your baby to Dr Anne Buk-Serero. We brought here our baby a couple of times, and even if she was ok and all the blood tests were correct, she gave us 5 prescriptions each time! By ‘coincidence’ always something that was being advertised in capital letters in every pharmacy…. It is the clear example of a Dr who is ‘commission focused’, just trying to get a much benefit as possible with medicaments, instead of trying to cure a baby… deplorable. Absolutely not what you expect when you go with your baby to a private Dr.

Excellent consultants ,nursing staff, and catering staff, we could not have been in a better hospital.

Queen Charlotte's and Chelsea Hospital

Du Cane Rd, Shepherd's Bush, London W12 0HS, UK – 020 3313 1111

Best hospital ever...my wife had her caesarean in this hospital. so clean comfortable atmosphere.. doctors, midwives and nurses were unbelievably friendly and helpful. Great regards to all the team ...

Cannot fault the team of midwifes on the birth centre I had my 2nd baby here a few days and would definitely recommend having a baby at the birth centre. The antenatal midwifes are lovely also only downside was the scans I had the ladies who did both my scans were very impatient and didn't look like they wanted to be there but apart from that what a great hospital and birth centre. Aftercare team were also great.

Was there recently, enjoyed the beautiful architecture and was fascinated with the whole history of the place and it's connection to Abingdon in Oxfordshire. Worth a read.

Attended for a christening. Lovely church in heart of Kensington. Great architecture and gardens. Priest was a charming man. Worth a visit and a nice break from the busy high Street

Nice big store with good range of things, mainly used when they have their offers on and the good stuff goes early. Good to be so large though so there's a chance of getting stuff you like. Much better than a small charity shop with a small amount of things available.

Had some brilliant brand new products from here that are gift aided from Westfield stores including Armani jeans for £20 ! I could never afford their normal retail price. People who claim that some items are overpriced need to take a serious look at rises across all retail. Men's shirts are better bought here than in mainstream. My son's wardrobe is testimony to that. Vintage bags and shoes here are much lower priced than in any of the Notting Hill clothing exchanges or Portobello outlets with the exception of the odd fair minded charity shop. Children's coats and dress up clothes are good value with the occasional gift aided Disney outfit. The window display us always a joy to see and l applaud the staffs commitment to always make it eye-catching.

Give and get free stuff. Here you will find lots of items that people are willing to give away, for FREE! This is instead of taking them to a local landfill site. The aim of this site is to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill (20.9 million tonnes of it last year in the UK) and recycling is great news for the environment.
We all know that we need to recycle more - and this is a great way of doing it.

Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around London

Koi Japanese Restaurant

1E Palace Gate, Kensington, London W8 5LS, UK – 020 7581 8778

The portion was small compared to the price. I tried beef using which has very good quality of but the broth was a little bit salty.

So authentic and fresh! So simple yet amazing! Worth it! Ordered it from Deliveroo

Al Santo

23 Vanston Pl, Fulham, London SW6 1AZ, UK – 020 7385 8277

Lovely decor and perfect for a date or meeting friends. The menu is printed in an old music record cover. Great place to just watch the world pass by and music was cheerful but without exceeding the volume so the conversation can flow. Food tasted great and portions were plenty for the most hungry. It took long to come but it was very worthy. There is a good choice for veggies, salads, pasta, etc. The panacota was light and not overly sweet. It was a treat. Service was friendly and without fuss. Although prices were reasonable be prepared to pay for good food.

It's very cosy friendly place based in the heart of Fulham London on quite square offering food and drink with tables inside and outside the restaurant. Very positive energy at any time of the day and evening.

Alborz

13 Hammersmith Rd, Kensington, London W14 8XJ, UK – 020 7602 9040

We always enjoy this great little restaurant with delicious food, excellent service and friends staff. The saffron rice is just heavenly. Definitely worth a visit!

Every year we visit Olympia for the London Film Comicon and every year we look forward to visiting this lovely Persian restaurant! They're so friendly. The food is well presented and is very tasty. I recommend the rice with berries (they're Barberries). They don't serve alcohol but you can go to the convenience store two shops down and buy your own (the shop is obviously used to this as they won't let you buy just one bottle of beer!) The restaurant will provide glasses and open bottles free of charge. The prices are good eg chicken on skewers with rice and grilled tomatoes, salad £8+10% service charge.

St James Junior School

Earsby St, London W14 8SH, UK – 020 7348 1777

My son is attending St James and he is enjoying to go to school. It is very welcoming school. Small classes, well behaved children, but still with freedom to be children. Teachers are skilled and supportive. Children are engaged to participate to school's activities from very beginning. By the end of the first semester your boy or girl will happily recite Shakespear's poems and sing on Latin and Sanskrit (completely willingly with smile and happiness). Parents are friendly. Competitive credo is swapped for learning and understanding. As a parent of child who is attending St James I can't say nothing but best for this school so far. He was shy boy and now he is growing into an confident, kind, very well educated and behaved young man. Regarding things from the past, I don't know how someone can judge the school nowadays on its past... (new milenium schools and parents are different and generally schools in the past weren't some pleasant places)

I had the pleasure of running an assembly at the school and found the staff and children to be super friendly and positive. My subsequent dealings with the school have also been terrific. It's a school with a great, positive vibe!

Ark Burlington Danes Academy

Wood Ln, Shepherd's Bush, London W12 0HR, UK – 020 8735 4950

This is a new primary school which started in September 2015, adding a much needed nursery unit this year 2017. Situated at the most northerly borders of Wood lane by the Borough lines of Brent and Kensington and Chelsea, Lisa Crispin Headteacher, makes a compelling description of her schools ethos which values the talents of its children AND STAFF. As an ex teacher myself that's good to know.

These are brotherand sister private schools. The girls part on Ifley, Godolphin has a high gated pedestrian entry and it's very discreet. It's stone built with classic church like architecture marked by arched windows. It's partner boys only school on King Street looks even grander like a cathedral.
